For the past few months Chris Murray Combo have been working on our second album, and it is sounding great so far! Projected release is for spring More details will be announced when available. We really don't leave southern California very often, so if you're in the midwest, this is a rare opportunity to see Chris Murray Combo perform live.
Seriously, the album turned out amazing and is now available through www. All proceeds will go towards building three small live venues in areas completely destroyed by the earthquake and tsunami of March 11, Please check out this track at www. Alright, have a great holiday season. Best wishes for a happy, healthy and productive ! Good news - Chris Murray Combo is currently in the studio working on our second album.
No release date to announce at this time, but we are making progress and will let you all know when it's done. By the way, there's now a CMC-specific fan page on Facebook. Come on by and like us! I now have a 16 track analog home studio, which is where the combo is recording. This track will be included in a compilation being assembled to promote a kids book by the same name. I'll give more details on that release when available. I have just returned from my 10th tour of the UK, this time accompanied by Babar Luck and Liam O'Kane, both lovely people and excellent artists.
Next on the agenda, following some local dates, is a trip to Canada for the 12th Annual Victoria Skafest, the longest running ska festival in North America. This will be our first live appearance the first of many I hope , and I'm very excited to head back to Victoria.
I've rediscovered the desire for an online place of my own a little homier than Myspace and Facebook, more like a comfy cottage than a small box in a huge apartment building. And so, I'm updating this website for the first time in more than a year!
That said, feel free to join me at the following hip spots: myspace. D ecember November was all about touring in Europe. I also wrote and recorded a song with Steve Borth of Satori and now Dub Defender, produced by Pato and with appearances by Babylove members.
There is still some finishing to be done on the track, but it is sounding very cool. December 11 I leave for two and a half weeks touring in Brazil, which I'm very excited about. Not a bad way to finish up a busy year!! Yard Sale is now available!! To order your copy, visit www. The final Bluebeat Lounge all venue event was really amazing - much more than a show!!
There is no solid plan for Bluebeat Lounge at this time, but know that I will put the word out when there is something to report. There is a lot of news!! First of all, to catch up. This summer I took a little break from being on the road all the time, but I still did some cool traveling, playing in Texas, Monterrey, British Columbia, plus making my 8th UK tour and second visit to Ireland. The fall is shaping up to be a busy time for touring.
This ranks very near the top of my all time favorite live performing experiences. Big news is that Knitting Factory has announced they are closing their Hollywood location at the end of October, bringing to a close the almost seven year run of weekly Bluebeat Lounge shows at KFLA.
There is an amazing all venue event planned for Friday, October 23 featuring 15 excellent bands. Bluebeat has been perhaps the most stable and consistent element in my life over the past 7 years and I am very thankful for the opportunity to have presented so many shows and worked with so many great people and bands. It has been an honor and a privilege. At this point there is no definite plan to relocate Bluebeat Lounge to another venue, but I am confident Bluebeat will continue in one form or another in the future.
And perhaps the biggest news is my new album, Yard Sale, to be released later this month. So far, has been a year of transition. In sad news, Ben Farrar has left CMC and all the groups he was playing with to focus on other things in life. He is greatly missed. I've done a fair bit of travel this year with one UK tour, two trips to Mexico, plus jaunts to Seattle, the midwest and Texas already under my belt. I'll be sticking close to home over the next two months.
On a reflective note, I would like to send a blanket thank you to all the people out there in the world who I have crossed paths with over my many years of touring. It is only through the support of many that I am able to survive doing something I truly love. Chris Murray Combo released our first album big thanks to Victor Rice!!
Thanks to everyone who was cool on the road. Let your repentance be repented over again. Ragga music began in the s with male Jamaican dancehall DJs and represents the sexuality of black women and their bodies, among other things. Ragga music is linked to dancehall and reggae music. However, the term later became a symbol of pride of the DJs as well. Ragga music transformed from exclusively male dominant productions to those with more female influence.
The negative critique of Ragga music seems similar to the way some regard hip-hop and rap songs of today. Some people believe the Jamaican Ragga music, and rap songs in general, are insulting to women due to their sexual and somewhat demeaning lyrics.
This may be due to the fact that Americans are not cultured in the same way as are the people of the Caribbean, who are more open with sex and sexuality in their everyday lives. As a black woman and originating from the Caribbean, Rihanna, in a way, signifies the black sexual connotations associated with Ragga music through her dancing, as well as some of the lyrics.
