Great set list, Kurt, Dave, and Krist at the top of their game, the music is in your face and raw, and the 16mm look fits the concert perfectly.
While the Unplugged special, and the Reading concert, have their place, Paramount is more intense, and more fulfilling for Nirvana fans. Review by Lester. The film manages to capture all three members in their element with a sense of cinematic flair—love those shots of Kurt bathed in light,…. It was the band's anniversary and VH1 was playing this in its honor.
Pretty good concert film. However, that isn't really saying anything, considering that it's all up to the performance to determine how "good" the film is. Well, they played well and I was enamored by Kurt's energy. Their performance of "Breed" was a stand out for me. In all honesty, I've never been big on grunge, but i'm human So I love this band regardless. I mean, it was cool but totally unexpected. And this proto version of Rape Me was so dope, i think i prefer it that way.
Listen to that: youtu. Review by John Frankensteiner. What should be an incredible document that epitomizes Nirvana and the cultural and musical zeitgeist feels let down by the over-zealous "modern treatment" perhaps hastily applied to so many modern re-releases.
Anyone looking for an authentic document of the original may be slightly disappointed. I love this band, this dvd really captures the time and at a time at the height of their success when they still had passion,no bonus features which is a shame, not as good as reading or live sold out dvd though!
Recorded on 16mm film in HD, as well. Blu ray but not the quality you would expect from a blu ray, but saying that this music video was made how many years ago so what do you expect? The live performance it's self was captivating and i found myself glued to my tv untill it was finished. I must say I really enjoyed it. A nice addition to my collection. This DVD is amazing. Great live performance from one of my favorite bands of all time. I wish I had a time machine to go back, and see Nirvana live.

And it was fucking huge. Nirvana was my favorite band. Vocalist-guitarist Kurt Cobain, bassist Krist Novoselic, and drummer Dave Grohl though technically, he arrived in the middle of recording 'Nevermind' fused punk rock and Sabbath metal with poetic, Beatles-inspired pop-rock hooks.
They took over the word, destroyed thousands of musical instruments, and tragically, it all ended too soon for my liking. Now we have your one and only chance to see Nirvana in high-definition. Crazy enough, despite owning all the albums cassettes, then CDs, which are now MP3s , singles, b-sides, and bootlegs, this is actually the first time I've ever been able to experience a Nirvana concert. Sold Out!!! Finally, a Blu-ray remedy has arrived to erase the somber regrets of a year-old teenage boy whose mother said he was too young to see Nirvana when the 'In Utero' tour came to the Worcester Centrum in the fall of -- and we all know what happened the following spring if you don't, Google "Kurt Cobain April 5, ".
Suffice it to say, I'm super-excited to have this release, and it will be a highlight of my music and Blu-ray collection for years to come. And while you may have seen some of its footage in previous music videos 'You Know Your Right' and others as well as a recent HD broadcast on VH-1, the Blu-ray is the only way to see the entire concert from the opening guitar riffs all the way to the demise of Kurt's splintered Fender. It's a fun period to have captured.
Like Nirvana's albums, there are some days where you can leave them and now this on a loop. Sorry this isn't much of a review. I suppose we could talk about the concert's filmmaking techniques or its structure, but there's little point.
The energetic cameramen cover every imaginable angle to encapsulate a brief moment in time. They did a good job, though I suppose I wish someone had given them all modern high-definition cameras so it would be even better. The songs are all classics for me , and the order in which they are played is a great change up when compared to the studio albums. If you're not a Nirvana fan already, for personal taste or age differences on the too old or too young side, I have no idea what you will make of this concert or band.
