The song starts out with that old time Pilgrim Jubilee Bobby McDougal dirty lead guitar vamp intro that let's you know that the group means business. The other drive song features the seasoned vocals of Arthur Sanders and Michael Leverett. Making great use of Philippians , "What So Ever" has a real pop to it that is sure to have you pressing your repeat button on your CD player. While this project features some really great mid-tempo and drive selections I do have to say the group's real bread and butter is their slower ballads.
In fact at the Convention these guys graced us with one of the smoothest versions of "Pass Me Not" sung in the old style with the vocalists all huddled around one microphone. This 7 minute tour de force is smooth and the message is very powerful. The Alabama Boys speak of the Christians move of faith which is personified by stepping out on the solid rock of Jesus Christ.
What a message to those who are weak in the faith!! With the passing of Mr. Tucker, an era of gospel quartet music is quickly coming to a close. Well, for those that visit this site you know that here each month we celebrate the history, artistry and culture of traditional gospel quartet music. We do, however, encourage each of you to take the time this month and tell a young person about the gospel quartet genre.
If you do, you will be aiding in ensuring that the rich history of gospel quartet music is past along from one generation to another. May 15, 8. This is a great CD. May 1, 8. What a great idea to put the history of the group on a video. Maybe other groups will follow The Lighthouse Singers ' lead and provide the gospel quartet community with their history on video.
The guys have really elevated their ministry to another level with this CD. This CD should bring in demands from around the country for concert appearances for this group that has been working in the vineyard for many years. May is the month we celebrate Mother's Day. As you celebrate during this month remember the contributions of the gospel quartet groups to this history. For, there is really the story of a people in the songs.
Encourage everyone you know that is putting on a Black History Program to include at least one gospel quartet group in the celebration.

So after a lengthy absence, we pick up our countdown once again! The origins of the group trace back to St. This young quartet included a talented lead singer named Jay Berry and a smooth baritone named Ed Hill.
This group had lots of potential, and wowed the crowd at the National Quartet Convention. It was released on a pop music label, Coral Records, and is a very collectible album today. This is one of the groups finest recordings, and features some of the finest singing in the groups history.
The Prophets joined the talented roster of artists on the Lefevres Sing label, and would release , in my opinion, some of their finest albums during these years. Berry was replaced for a short time by a young lead singer from Alabama, Jack Toney , whose stay with the group was not long. Filling the position would be another fine lead singer, and one of the all time greats, Roy McNeal.
