He knew Josie still loved Liam, and the boy Nick had raised for six years, Noah, was getting to know his real dad for the first time. Nick had to get away. So he left. He went to Africa for a year to work as a doctor and get away from it all. His only regret was not saying goodbye to Noah. While working in Africa, Nick meets Audrey.

He would be wrong. He and Audrey start seeing each other, and even though he loved Josie, he has never felt this way about anyone before. I enjoyed the story, I just wish we could have seen a little more with he and Audrey.

Regardless, I liked it and was very happy with the ending. View all 9 comments. I felt bad for him. Instead I continued to feel bad for him in this one as well. The book starts out with Nick getting settled in Africa and the new woman he meets named Aubrey.

I think it was all the flashbacks to his and Josie's relationship that ruined it for me. We get a pretty good idea of their life together in Forever My Girl and the re-telling through Nick's eyes was really unnecessary.

Maybe if it had been done in smaller doses it would've gotten across what she had wanted but for me it was a major fail. Instead of seeing him fall in love again and heal his broken heart, we were just forced to endure his heartbreak all over again.

It was unfair to both of them. I did enjoy seeing him with Noah and that he was given the opportunity to fix that relationship. Their interactions were endearing and incredibly sweet. Bottom line, I felt that Nick wasn't given his due and it was unfortunate. Still looking forward to the next in the Beaumont Series though. Feb 26, Rejane rated it it was ok. It is a short book for us to be reminded all the time how he loved Josie and how hurt he was.

But I really liked the little we see of her. The last chapter was all dedicated to Nick getting reacquainted with him. There should be more time developing his relationship with Amber specially when they got back married to his hometown. And the lack of an epilogue made their story incomplete. As I said the last chapter was focused in the kid. Not what I expected. Mar 17, Natasha is a Book Junkie rated it really liked it Shelves: arc. He walked out of their lives a broken man, heartbroken and betrayed, and in order to distance himself from the constant reminder of what could have been his but now would never be, he left Beaumont and went to Africa to work as a volunteer.

I needed to feel as if my life meant something. His living conditions are very modest and his working conditions very basic, but this simplicity helps him put things into perspective and re-evaluate the life he left behind. Flashback memories of Josie, Noah and their time together haunt him, keep replaying in his mind and hurting him over and over again. He regrets not fighting for his family and giving up on them too easily, but while his love for Josie slowly fades away, his guilt over leaving Noah behind without so much as an explanation, the boy he raised with her for six years and loved as his own, never does.

His conscience burns and gives him no relief. That is all I have from the last six years. Nick is immediately attracted to her, but cautious not to get involved with her due to the limited nature of his stay in Africa. But his biggest challenge is rebuilding a relationship with the one he hurt the most with his sudden departure — Noah.

My only objection is that the intimate scenes between Nick and Aubrey could and should have been less fade-to-black and more detailed, more personal. It would have added an extra layer to the special connection between these two characters and given us a further, more vivid example of the unique attachment being woven between them.

It should also be noted that this story should not be read without first reading Forever My Girl as it is a continuation of those events and I do not feel that the reader would get to experience the full depth of emotions that this story brings without knowing the background storyline.

In Forever My Girl, my heart went out to Nick as he lost the girl he loved and left Beaumont with a broken heart. And let me say this now, that doesn't mean that I am not a Liam fan because I most definitely am Suffice to say, My Everything gave me everything I wanted and a whole lot more.

For those who liked Nick in FMG, you are going to love him here. And for those who didn't like him because he 'wasn't Liam', I would say read this novella and give him a chance. You might be surprised at what you find.

And I promise you, you'll find that there is enough room for both Nick and Liam in your life. I'm so happy that I finally found the novella so that I can continue with this series! My Everything was a really cute and easy read. I believe it's the first novella in the Beaumont series.. However, it's the first one I found so that's why I'm saying that.

I was so happy to read more about Nick, who was Josie's ex-fiance. He wasn't my favorite person in the entire universe or this series but it was really nice to find out what he has been up to. I wante I'm so happy that I finally found the novella so that I can continue with this series!

I wanted to know how he dealt with his new life after Josie and her son Noah went with Liam. My heart felt a little something because Nick knew that she was still in love with the guy. Sort order. I love the cover, I love the blurb. I was intrigued and had heard nothing but great things about it, but the premise touched a couple of raw nerves for me. Finally, last week, I picked it up, took a deep breath and began to read I read at every available moment, I really didn't want to stop reading. I was absolutely swamped by the story; by the characters, a I have to admit that my copy of My Everything has been sitting on the 'to be read' pile for some months now.

I was absolutely swamped by the story; by the characters, and yes, by the premise that scared me so much at the beginning.

There are two themes that run through My Everything. First we have an unhappy young wife; Hannah and Tom have only been married for four years, but things are not going well. The Tom that Hannah fell in love with has disappeared. The Tom that she shares her life with these days is angry, spiteful, tired, cruel and seems uninterested in her.

She's made the decision to leave him, and she is going to tell him today. Then we have the second theme, the thing that happens to Tom on the morning that Hannah was going to announce that their marriage was over.

That she was moving on, taking a job on the other side of the world. Finished, over, the end. Tom has a stroke. Thirty two year old Tom, the football player, the successful and seemingly healthy young lawyer lays on the bedroom floor. Unable to move, unable to form his words, paralysed. Hannah is terrified. She is consumed by guilt, but also by loathing and fear. She knows that she cannot leave him now.

She abandons her plans and vows to stay with Tom, to see him through this awful time. She puts her own needs to the back of her mind and appears to everyone as the worried and dutiful wife.

Katie Marsh is a hugely talented new author. My Everything is cleverly constructed; relaying the story of Tom's illness and his slow recovery and interspersed with snippets from Tom and Hannah's earlier years. Each alternative chapter features an item from their past; a lighter, a ticket to a football match, an order of service. Each item is a chapter in Tom and Hannah's romance and the reader learns about their love, their closeness.

We discover how they laughed together and cried together, how they married and then how they began to fall apart. Tom and Hannah are fabulous characters, I loved both of them, despite their faults and their annoyances, for me, this just made them more lovable, more real and more believable. The supporting cast of characters are wonderful, and Tom's younger sister Julie almost steals the whole show from Tom and Hannah.

Her teenage angst and her terrible decisions are a cover for her inner vulnerability and sadness and although there are times that the reader despairs at her actions, she's really not difficult to love. My Everything is a story of how two people who are madly in love can drift apart until the gap seems so wide that it is almost impossible to imagine a future together. It is a story that could be devastating, but is in fact, hugely inspiring, proving love and forgiveness can overcome the most difficult of situations.

Funny, warm, skilfully written and beautifully observed, My Everything is a joy to read. A fabulous debut. View 1 comment. Aug 01, G. This novel started off quite well and I was optimistic.

I thought it would tackle some really serious issues around the area of young people having a stroke and the challenges that everyone involved faced. I fear the author missed an opportunity here and went the softer route instead, which is such a pity. Having said that , it was a re This novel started off quite well and I was optimistic.

Aug 18, Bookread2day rated it it was amazing. A must buy, must read. As well as writing novels Katie Marsh has a career in healthcare, and My Everything was inspired by the bravery of the patients she met while working in stroke services. This is a heartbreaking story, that is funny in places. On the day Hannah is finally going to tell her thirty-two year husband that she is leaving him, he has a stroke. Everyt A must buy, must read. Everything changes for Hannah she now has to put her plans on hold to look after her husband.

Why this novel is so hard to put down is that there are powerful emotions as Hannah and Tom find that both really do love each other. The result of this wonderful story is unforgettable. Most people know someone who has had a stroke. A stroke occurs every three and half minutes in the UK. I am glad I share the same surname as Katie. I hope that Katie Marsh will write another book as I would be proud to be first in line to read it. A nice read with emotional and heart-warming moments, but with a weak ending that disappoints and some strange personal decisions by the main characters.

The writing could have gone deeper, darker, but preferred staying on the surface, keeping things as lightweight as possible, even with the heavy subject matter. In the effort to make this a "summer" romance novel, March misses out on the opportunity to look at her interesting characters from a more realistic perspective, and that's a shame.

Thi A nice read with emotional and heart-warming moments, but with a weak ending that disappoints and some strange personal decisions by the main characters. This is in short an easy, fun read, but does not leave you with much food for thought. This book was beautifully written filled with raw emotions and situations I feel almost everyone could relate to. It's so heartbreaking that people become so entangled in their life and work that they forget what life they have outside and it's so sad that something so devastating should happen just for people to see that, such a powerful message in this book.

Nov 18, Louise rated it liked it. I was given this novel as part of World book day. View 2 comments. Nov 15, Bookphenomena Micky rated it really liked it Shelves: emotional , womens-fiction , angst. I've returned a bit to women's fiction this year and this book reminds me why this is a good idea. This book tackles real life but with a poignancy that it is impossible not to get emotionally involved with the characters.

This is a story of a mid -thirties married couple who've forgotten why they're together and what was worth getting married for. They're lost and then tragedy strikes. This book was emotionally provoking from the beginning, in particular, it was easy to feel empathy towards Han I've returned a bit to women's fiction this year and this book reminds me why this is a good idea. This book was emotionally provoking from the beginning, in particular, it was easy to feel empathy towards Hannah the heroine.

On the flip side, I had sympathy for Tom because of his predicament but he had not been a good husband of late. As the book progresses, the true tale of these two unravels in a timeline of past and present. Lies and truth are told, work invades and freedom beckons.

I was constantly eager to get to the present and see where Hannah and Tom were up to. Julie, Tom's sister is a pretty important character but she conjured such irritation in me, although I think that was expected. This book was fantastic debut from Katie Marsh, well researched and she was willing to narrate life in it's gritty ugliness, yet finding chinks of light.

I found it ultimately fulfilling but emotionally provoking. I would love to read more about Tom and Hannah and Katie Marsh. Aug 19, Agi rated it it was amazing Shelves: , favourite. I'm on such a good roll when it comes to debut novels lately! It reminds me a lot of Jessica Thompson or Jojo Moyes's books - both in subject matter and the writing style, but no worries, Ms Marsh has already found her own way with words and her own style, and truly, I can't wait to read more from her.

And to be totally honest, I don't know how to write this review to do this book justi I'm on such a good roll when it comes to debut novels lately! The way this book was written has worked out incredibly well for me, and I find this idea of doing it in a full circle really good. The chapters are alternating between the present and past, telling us a lot about the characters and what happened that the situation is like it is, explaining everything, to eventually meet in the present, to do a full circle.

I fell in love with Hannah from the first time we get to know her. She was very likeable in my opinion, of course she was, but there was something special in her, something that I can't put my finger on, but this "something" just made her a smashing, extraordinary character. I would do anything for Hannah, and would support her no matter what she were to do, as she was so exceptional. No, she was not perfect, she had her flaws, and there was more than once that I wanted to shout at her or shake her and tell her, get a grip, woman, and fight for yourself!

She was not the best in confrontations and when something didn't work out than she just left it as it is, not trying to fight to change it. And I hated how impassive she was towards her sister - in - law, Julie. But an extraordinary book character can't be flawless, right? Hannah was full of passion for her job and I loved it. She loved travelling but she put this hobby on hold, because life got in the way.
