Highest recommendation. Even if you don't intend to buy this please listen to it for your soul's sake :. Plays with two or three crackles at the beginning! Epic breaks and sleazy Jazz Funk on this infamous release by swiss guitar king Pierre Cavalli. So lovely record by the former leader of Massada. Gil Scott heron and Brian Jackson at their best. Spoken word slow jams meets these lightweight rhythms with heavyweight lyrics.

I had the pleasure to meet this great man once and his warm and hopeful dark humour is one of a kind. So is his music! Deep, down and dirty! Foostomping funk from Memphis Tenessee! Sweetest Soul and Funk by master Hutson.

When I first discovered this one many years ago it totaly blew my mind! The combination of medieval instruments and psychedelic funk still rules in my book ; Make sure to listen!! This soundtrack to a sexual education play is pretty funny. I have been searching for that tune in the clip for ages after hearing it in a mix back in the 90s. Sit back and enjoy :. The most popular! Jerky electronics meet eclectic rhytms made for Ballet dancing. I just tried dancing to it as a morning exercise and I can tell you it was big fun! Original copy! Essential album!! Holt got soul. A definite "unique selection" of grooves here -- not just because the rare tracks are all from 70s Poland, but also because most of them have never been reissued either!

The package is a wonderful introduction to the kinds of grooves we've been digging from Poland for years -- that mad mix of jazz, funk, fusion, electric, and vocal elements that somehow managed to flourish wonderfully during the 70s years of Soviet control -- a real musical marvel, considering the setting -- and because of tight border control, very few of these tunes ever made it out to the west!

The track selection differs a fair bit from the kinds of full length Polish jazz albums that have been released to date -- as many of the titles here are groovier, funkier, and more electric -- and in case you're wondering, there's also very little crossover with the Compost Polish jazz set from a few years back. The mix of crime jazz and euro funk is thoroughly enjoyable and quite different from the vibe on Volume 2 which leans towards rare groove. In summary - it is one of the most unique and groovy funk compilations you are ever likely to hear!
